I Need Mirrors...

I can't see out of my mirrors and it's driving me nuts. They are type 9 swinglocks and look a lot like what Bronco Graveyard sells here:Door Mirror, Support and Head.

The passenger mirror is completely unusable - the ball had rusted into the socket so badly, they are now fused together - so, I can't adjust that mirror in any way.

The driver's mirror is fine - but it's too small - same pretty much with the other one. I need a larger mirror. I think a type 7 would be about right but I am looking into the western (jr) style mirrors also... I like big mirrors on my trucks - can't see without them...

As it is now, I can't see where the hell I'm going when I'm backing up - kinda bugs me. I don't have time to go to a salvage yard during their open hours and there doesn't seem to be any aftermarket version of what I need...

Anybody got any mirrors lying around they'd want to sell?

If you're okay with aftermarket mirrors, check grote.com (Grote Industries). Grote Industries: Mirror Products

I've always kept my eyes out for OEM west coast mirrors in the 'yards and all of them tend to be broken or their brackets bent to hell. My brother found an OEM set on CL and forked over $100 for a really sweet pair. On my rig, I used early 90s Ranger mirrors. I've got a pair of replacement 92-96 F150 mirrors I could part with... still in the box.

There was a difference in the mounting bracket between years. One thing I noticed is the top arm on mine is bent a little before the pivot - the ones I've seen on the 80's trucks have a straight arm. Also, there seems to be a difference in the distance between where it mounts to the door - top to bottom - I think the 80's trucks have a longer distance.

I've yet to find out if the type 7 and type 9 mirrors share the same mounting holes...

I have an extra original set that I took off of a 75, I think they are type 11. They are in good shape, just needs new bolts so they will have a better appearance overall.

Edit: They may be type 7. Ill have to go dig them out and look, I done forgot.

The ones at Autozone are most likely made in China. The ones I posted are OE Ford. They come with all the mounting hardware and gaskets and the original Ford schematics showing where and how to mount them.
