Looking at a 460 to buy for my motor swap. This is what the guy selling it gave me for casting numbers.
Block D1VE-6105-A2B
71 Lincoln - right?
Heads are a little iffy on the number as I can't find anything about it.
08vL-a2a
I don't think those are right numbers. Any way someone could get close to what they are? Do you think the head number could be D3VE-a2a? Low C/R or high C/R?
Don't want to post this in the wrong forum, but will stuffing it into a 72 F100 be a problem with a Lincoln motor? First swap with this truck so I just want to make sure.
Ok I think I've beat this subject to death enough.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the D1VE block was first released in 71 and used till late 78/early 79 when the D9TE block came out. was used in all vehicle lines not just the Lincoln. so that block was used in everything from the Mustang to the trucks that used the 429/460 motors.
the D3 heads will be the large chamber heads so the compression will be pretty pathetic. depending on what it came out of, it is anywhere from 7.8:1 to 8.5:1.
the big difference between the Ford and Linclon 460 is the motor mounts. the blocks are identical and use the same bolt pattern, it is just the motor mounts are different. that is why all the crossmember kits say not for use with Linclon motors. what they should say is not for use with Linclon motor mounts. you have to use the motor mounts from the Ford 460. i think if memory serves me is the 74 LTD motor mounts are the correct ones. but the kit tells you the part # of motor mounts required.
That A2A on the head casting number makes me think of the D2VE head. I'm pretty sure an A2A followed that. I have a set but I haven't looked at them in a long time. That had was used in 1972 only and is a completely open chamber. They are by far worst head out there. If that is infact what you have I would not use those heads.
