Smile Ignition WIRE Set (plug wires) - Brand..

Folks,

98 Explorer / 4WD / 4.0 / SOHC / 6cyc

I'm planning on changing plugs and want to replace the wires too.

I've seen the XACT brand at Advance Auto parts.

Any suggestions / opinion? - I'd like to get as close to OEM as possible.

ALSO - It looks awfully tight under that hood. I've heard that you get to the back passenger side plug by removing the wheel. Any advice on that would be appreciated too.

THANKS!

Sure - why not just buy a set of Autolite platinums. Even with all the mods, I haven't found any plugs that work any better then the Autolites or Motorsports.

Take your front tires off. You will see a removable flap there held in by push-pins. Take that down, and the plugs are staring at you.

I've got a set of Platinum plugs.

I am not familiar with the Autolite Platium Wires (was your reference to wires or plugs)?

(If not.....what do you think about XACT wires)?

THANKS!

I would stick with the platinum plugs, and factory wires also. The factory wires are 8mm, which are better than most sets you can get at any local parts house. Most of them are 6mm. I am not familiar with the set you mentioned, so I can't say for them...

With my Eaton supercharger, MSD, and all the other toys, I have not found but one set of wires I would get over the factory wires - Taylors.

If you are running stock, or even mods, I would not change. Motorsport makes very good products...

Arrow Ignition WIRE Set (plug wires) - Brand..

Folks,

I did get some plug wires (but can take them back).

The XACT brand was available (around $60) and AutoLite had a set called the "Professional Series (around $37). They are both 8MM (rather than the lower-quality 6mm).

The Autolites are pre-greased silicon and actually looked as good (heavy gauge) or better.

Has anyone else out there used Autolite Pro series Wires (or know their track record)?

Thanks !
