frame rust

i have a 02 exp. which has been used to work in the winter time, and the frame is badly rusted. what should i do to prevent it from getting worse?
id like a cheap method, i know there are expensive ways to do it but i want to do the work myself and not spend much on materials.

Cheap usually doesn't mean long lasting. A couple of quarts of tranny fluid and a paintbrush should do the trick.

If you want to go up to the next level then use Extend.
