major trans issues
About 2k miles ago I did a trangso tugger 2 kit with 4r100lu (on/off tcc kit). Ever since install I have had higher trans temps (180 - 200) empty on 80-85 degree days. Before the install It would run 140-150. I cant figure out what I have done wrong. I put on a new cooler, checked the bypass, checked flow, everything checked out. Yesterday I pulled up a steep, winding, 3-4 mile hill and temps got to 230 and I did that twice. I went out to the truck and it pulled out fine and when I got to the bottom of the hill no drive or reverse, would even try to pull. shut truck off for 5 minutes, started back and would pull for short time and when it would quit pulling I could here a sucking sound comming from trans. I dropped the pan and the filter is clogging. I would really be appreciative of any ideas on what I may have done wrong? I have installed these kits before without any issues. Thanks Seth

I had the same trouble with a trans after the tugger was installed. Now I have no idea if the tugger was to blame or not being that the trans was rebuilt by and idiot.
But the reason I'm posting is because the shop could never explain the heat. Much like yours the trans ran 170-190 before the tugger, 220-230 after???? is there a connection? Who knows, I switched out cooler bypass's, trans coolers and it still ran unusually hot.
Finally tried a different trans without the tugger, and now im running at 160 at 90* ambient.
Its possible that something in that kit can be installed improperly and causing this.
I thought about giving Transgo a call to see if they have had this complaint before, but I never did.
It may be worth a try.

If your slipping, and the filter is clogged. It sounds like your clutches are coming apart.
The first trans that I had rebuilt with the tugger lasted less than 100 miles before the forward drum split,(unrelated) upon teardown the clutches were showing signs of slipping already.
I think there is a connnection here somewhere.

Talked to tech at trango, (first off, he was very helpful, knowlegable, and informative) and he doesnt think it is anything in the kit that I may have installed wrong. I am going to put a new filter in and see if it plugs and what else happens with trans. I will keep post updated as I get results.
