C6 issues

C6 issues
so i'm new to FTE and haven't really found what i am looking for so far in the search.
i have just purchased a 75 f150 king cab w/ a C6. it doesn't shift into third ever. not in drive, or if i manually put it in drive from 2 while driving. the tranny shifts fine from 1st to 2nd. the fluid is in good shape, but a little too full. i also replaced the vacuum modulator.
any words of advise?

ya know- i feel silly- i didn't notice if the pin was in. i'll check that. if it turns out that the pin is installed, how big of a deal is it to check the check *****? i haven't done a whole lot of auto trans repair. just the basic replacement of filters and such. thanks for the help!!!
