Cam Pos Sensor/ Throttle Pos Sensor?
First off I have put approx 133K mi on my `97 F-250 Tubro Diesel with the big Banks system installed with probably over $15,000 in maintenance.Total mileage is now 240k. I have replaced the cam sensor 3 times myself and the 4th was a recall. I believe this may be my case again however I get an occassional surge in rpm and then it goes back to normal. One mechanic I talked to said it can also be a TPS (throttle position sensor) but so far even with my Helms shop manual I have not come across the info or what it even looks like so far. Is there anything I need to know before installing the new CPM? Like disconnecting the batteries, or any other neccessary procedure........THanks for any Help.......Bungelow Bill

A defective TPS can cause your transmission to have shifting problems. You don't have to disconnect the battery
