Alright im no newbie when it comes to automotive problems and solutions but i got to something the other day that has got me pullin my hair out and hopefully you experts can help me out.
I got a 1986 F-150 with the 300 six. the previous owner rebuilt the engine and put it back in owever left all the vacuum lines off and all the electronics unplugged. He switched all the Ford style connectors to single wire spades and i am in need of a engine wiring diagram and a better vacuum diagram. Or good illustrations will work for me. I think i have most of it good but the o2 sensor doesn't have a wire anywhere in sight. Though if i know right the choke and the o2 share a wire? If that's so i think i know which wire it is however i need to know if the choke or o2 is the component at the end of the wire or if it even matters.
I know that's a lot to ask but im hoping on of u geniuses knows the answers to these questions. btw its california emissions.
See if Service Manuals, Owner Manuals, Wiring Diagrams, Service Bulletins - Helm Incorporated has the diagrams for your truck in stock. They will be the factory ones. I have a Haynes manual that has the diagrams for your truck(you must have the computer controlled carb style engine) but I have heard my manual may be the older version and the newer version manual may not have the good diagrams in the back.
Yea it is a computer controlled carb. I tried them already with no luck and even tried the Mitchell system at work (NAPA) with no luck they all leave the o2 sensor circut out of the diagram because all it really is is a resistance wire that controls the fuel air mixture solenoid on the carb...
I glanced at my diagram, and I don't see a oxygen sensor. The feedback carb solenoid is driven directly from the computer. They have a common hot wire that feeds the carb solenoid and all the other emissions solenoids, and the computer grounds the other side Of each one to activate them.
