The local Ford dealer has a package deal on 17" wheels and 235/80R17 Dean Wintercat SST studded tires. $1743 all in.
They also have factory sized (275/70/R18) Cooper Discoverer M+S studded for $1340.46 all in, including mounting. The problem with that is that I would have to pay for remounting twice a year instead of changing tires myself for free.
Also, the next best deal around here is $1480 (all in, including mounting) for stock sized studded Winterforce tires.
There is other options around here, but these are the three that I have narrowed it down to for winter tires, as my ATs are too worn too run come winter.
Jason, I would check your local can tire for a price on steel rims. They seem to advertise some at a decent price. I bought some last year at a local tire shop before I thought about can tire, but way easier to swap tires myself than go to remount every time. I paid 100 per steel rim.
I didn't realize they were Canadian prices. Yeah, they seemed high, not so much now. But, I think I'd make sure they were all "E" rated and if so I'd probably get the Dean tires and wheels. I've looked at those same tires (or another Cooper made tire that's the same as the Dean). They look like a really good winter tire for a pick up.

Not only is Crappy Tire's Prices high, but they aren't even sure if their wheels will fit anything newer then 04.

The tires are E rated. They did look pretty good, so I will probably go ahead and get the Dean tires on the wheels.
Have used Deans for the last six years and like them very well.
We got 14 feet of snow last year,,, and no,,, they don't plow regularly,,, so I had to go to work in 3-4 feet of snow every Monday morning. They did a great job!! I had them sypped for extra hold which also helped distribute heat for that long drive to work over hot asphalt.
Just switched to Yokohamas for this winter. Will be interesting to see if they perform as well!!
