Aware this is probably not the most normal question.
What material are the bolts made from in the block, intake etc. Or is there no real concern over the issues around dissimilar metals?
I need to replace some bolts going into my Edelbrock Performer 390 Intake manifold and was looking at A2 Stainless, but thought I would see if there is any knowledge on the subject here?
If you are asking if galvanic corrosion is an issue, it is generally only a concern when there is an electrolyte present. A iron impeller running inside of an aluminum housing with radiator fluid present does represent a case where galvanic corrosion can be an issue. Bolts going into a block should not be a major concern.
Yes, that is what I am getting at really.
Just in case there is a risk of longer term (if slow) corrosion making removing the bolts difficult in the future.
With the bolt heads being exposed to atmosphere I wondered if there could have been a risk.
