Talking Project plan

Okay, so I've got A LOT of badass ideas for my truck but I've tryin to keep locked up so People don't steal. I decided I wanted to share with them with you guys and have you tell me what you think. (My truck's a 76 150)

I'll start with the body, I love the color (black, with white pinstripping on side and hood) so repaint. I'm planning on raising the back a few inches and dropping the front to give it that "I'm coming to eat you" look. I was thinking about taking the two outside lights on the roof of the cab off and just keeping the three in the middle, but I'm not totally sure on that. I'm going to cut a hole in the hood and mount a shaker scoop from a 71 ranchero on top of either a 428CJ or 429CJ (have been thinking of maybe just going with a 427 high riser). I like the low aggressive look of the ranchero/torino shaker better than the beefer one they made for stangs. Sun visor of course (lol, I dunno why but I've always thought trucks with visor bills look truckier). In the bed, I going to weld fold down about 4 movie theater seats, two on each side, one on either side of the wheel well (I work at the movie theater and already have some seats they replaced). I want to put big chrome roll bar in it too. Under the rollbar, I want to put two huge speakers and a big sub between 'em (and no, just cuz I want a sub, doesn't mean I like rap, I'm a metal head to the core). In order to keep these from getting stolen(and dry), I'm going to put a black hard bed cover. With the engine swap, I want to put at least a 4 spd in it (would love to have enough power to justify a 6spd but that aint happenin lol). I would also like to watch my glasspacks spit flames when I shift gears. Finally, I'm taking the F O R D letter out of the grille and putting in my truck's nickname B E A S T, and have it either pressed into the tailgate like Ford is, or just it painted in lacey lettering on the tailgate.

What you guys think? I know it probably won't be completed til I'm 30 but it's gonna be sick!

chrome roll bar in the bed and hard tonneau cover won't work together...if i read that right... i'm not trying to rain on your parade...just didn't want you to go in debt to buy one or the other and then have to sell it half price....been there...i really want a tonneau cover for mine hard or soft but they are pricey at best...but i like all of your other ideas...you need nerf bars...and a push bumper...maybe you could write beast backwards on the push bar so when someone looked in the mirror it would say that...like an ambulance...just my thoughts..and i'm in the same boat...mine is a 73 f100 with lots of plans and time but no money. and maybe you should look into a supercharged lightning engine for the truck....

Like Flat_Ford expressed, I don't want to rain on your parade, but...

When you look logically at what you want to do, there are several things that don't work together. However, I also don't know how you have envisioned this in your head, so I may be off a bit.

First, as has been stated already, the roll bar and the bed cover won't work together. You'll have to make a choice there, but maybe my next comment will help with that.

Second, the bed cover and the seats won't work together. If you are using a hard bed cover, where are you going to put it when you want to use the seats? It will only lift up so far, and even if you got it to stand straight up, I'm sure you wouldn't want to drive it that way. Something that WOULD be cool is a center-split bed cover that actually retracts over the sides of the bed and can be locked down. That way all you would have to do is fold your seats down, flip up each side of the cover, and latch them together.

Third, if you do put a roll bar in it, you'll need to pad it up really good. Why? Given that stock height difference F-B is already something like 3 inches (at least on mine), by raising the truck a few inches in the back and lowering it a few inches in the front, whoever is sitting next to the roll bar on each side is gonna get one hell of a headache every time you even tap the brakes. That, or you could put a padded button on the top of the roll bar...whenver a skull hits it, it opens a spring-loaded door and out pops an aspirin! Of course, the double vision would make it tough to tell which pill is the real one...

I don't mean to rag on your ideas, Dom...like I said, you may have a different picture in your head than I do...but there are definitely some choices you will have to make according to what I've heard.

I love your idea for the shaker hood...and if you could get BEAST stamped into the tailgate, that would be super cool! IMO, don't paint it on...I think that would look cheap. Anybody can have something sprayed on their vehicle...but I don't know of anyone who has custom lettering stamped into the metal of it!

not going to rain on it this time...read the last post and had an idea....

i seen a S-10 with the tail gate cut out in a bowtie...if you could take your time and cut beast out in a blank piece of tailgate...put plexi-glass and neons behind it....**** now i'm thinking about doing it..idk if anyone has a clue what i'm saying...but if you do throw in the input.

You have 30 grand to build that 427 high Riser?

And then with any of those 3 engines you don't think you'll have enough "power" for a 6 speed? You do realize a 6 speed tranny has 2 overdrives right? It has nothing to do with power.

Bowtie, I wouldn't have the backs of the seat welded on, just the seats of the seats (lol) bolted so they fold up and just weld a bar in the bed sides for the back. And I also thought of the bed cover thing. I think I might just make one cut to fit a roll bar and fully removeable, and make a shelf on the undercarriage so I can take it off and slide it underneath my truck.

Josh, there's alot of things I don't understand about trannys but when I think of a six spd, I think of a subies six just because that's the only cars I've been around with them in one, and they have quick quick QUICK power and blow through gears like *snap* that.
