Yesterday I changed the oil and filter and the fuel filters ..pricey !!! motorcraft parts .
I saw the indent in the secondary fuel filter for the 1/2 inch extension and tried to removed it that way ...well...no very good idea . it slightly cracked the cap housing and of course it leaked .. Do Not Use an 1/2 inch extesion , only use the 24mm socket .
I just wanted to share .
Thanks for the website ! this is my second o/f change and I figured I would do them every three months -4000 miles . What do you all do about the intervals ?
Thanks again,
Roberto.
As gearloose1 recommended to purchase your filters a Dieselfiltersonline you can also purchase Racor Fuel & Oil filters. Parker/Racor makes the filters for motorcraft. They are OME filters but do not come in a motorcraft box. I always purchase Racor they are cheaper. Also buy a few at a time there flat rate shipping is 8.95 if you purchase 1 or 5 items.
Also, I am hearing good things about the Prime Guard filters. The dealer I used in Oregon uses them on all their oil changes now. And have been told they are okay on vehicles with warranties. I am not sold on that as of yet though.
The recommendation is to only use OEM filters, or Racor, who makes the OEM filters. Prime Guard wouldn't fit that bill. For the few dollars you'd save I wouldn't do it. Nor would I really trust a dealer that did.
Dear Mr. Gearloose. Your opinion please about "Performance Truck Products" at their online store. How about their quality, prices and FREE shipping with a 50$ minimum order?I bought oil filters and fuel filters from them yesterday, so haven't got them yet (Racor brand) .
