Hello
. I just recently acquired a 2005 King Ranch F150, bone stock with 84k on it.Now what I am wondering is there anything I should know about that particular year/model of truck? I've seen in other posts that I should expect anywhere from 12 to 18 miles per gallon. Is there any generic problems or simple upgrades for the truck?
Thanks in advance!
1. Spark plugs: the factory installed plugs tend to stick. I hope that your's have already been replaced. If they have not, expect a few to break when you have them changed for the first time.
2. the COPS (coil over plugs): it seems that some guys have been experiencing issues with these. They come unseated, break, etc leading to misfires and rough idles
3. Your year (04-06) sometimes forms a rear end whine coming from the differential. You'll be able to hear it over your radio. There is a TSB for this out there.
There are lots of other small things, but honestly, enjoy your new truck. I'm only about 3 weeks into my purchase of my 06 SCrew and I honestly love every minute I'm in it. The search function is your best friend on here. The more you use it, and the more you can tell people that you've searched and found some answers, the better your information will be.
I see you have a 7.3 so you probably know all about tuning. You should look into a tuner from 5-Star. Mike seems to do wonders with the 5.4 gas. Don't bother with a CAI as it seems that you'll only get cab noise and not much of a performance gain. Just some nice engine bling!
Oh yeah. Don't forget to get some leather treatment on those KR seats. That saddle leather will fade to a really funky color if they don't get semi-regular attention.
Post some pics of the truck.
I will look into the things that you have outlined for me.
I am totally enjoying the truck its sweet!
And I will post some pics a soon as I get a chance.
Thanks again!
Congrats on the purchase sounds like you found yourself a nice truck will this be a daily driver to lessen the miles on the 350?
