UP. Going to get a leer tonneau cover Saturday. Need a tailgate lock. Have you decided on one Texas?

Im really thinking im just going to have my handle relocated to the inside of the tailgate. I need to have my tonneau cover painted anyways so I might as well get it painted, shave the handle, and then get my rollpan repainted. Maybe ill go ahead and get a steel rollpan and have it blended too

My handle is relocated on the inside and I have a SnugLid on the truck. I did this mainly for looks though. If you are installing hard tonneau cover, I don't see the need for a tailgate lock; the cover should keep someone from opening the tailgate with the cover down and locked. Just a thought.

im guessing your buying a used leer cover (need for paint)?? also, other than just wanting to buy one, you shouldnt need a tailgate lock with the cover as leer covers wrap over the back (usually).

Yes. The cover is in perfect shape but its white.. I guess ill have to see the cover actually on my truck. I was thinking the tailgate could still open an inch and then someone could pull it and break the cover. IDK I guess ill find out. I think im going to go the shaved route though

If the bed cover goes over top of the gate and locks down, there is not need for a tailgate lock.

I guess the relocated handle looks ok, but its just not for me. I'm just not into the overly custom look.

I just decided for now to keep the one I have that goes over top of the handle. Its ugly, but works. I'm going to get that one like you pictured before at some point. Do you know if it stays in place weather locked or unlocked and can you leave the gate unlocked with it?

you are right. the second one you had a link too made by pop and lock.... it slides behind the gate handle and stays there.

Thats cool. I like that. The queston is though, does it have to be locked whenever its closed or can it be left unlocked?
