on a 95 351 whats the trick to remove the pump. i see a stud that seems to hold the power steering pump on it. do i have to remove the power steering pump too? or is there another way.
I just replaced the water pump on my truck and it's not to hard. I would first do it somewere you can lay down on a piece of plywood so that everything is in arm length. Theres not really any tricks, drain the radiator, pop off the hoses, remove the belt and take off the pulley and fan, remove the shroud and radiator. Now try not to break off the bolts on the water pump, as somone did on mine. That really long one on the passenger side is the one thats broken on mine. If you turn it and it comes loose then good but it will probably not. So try spraying them down with some penetrant and give them some turn, you might have to tighten them and loosen them a couple times back and forth to free them up. Other then that I dont remember taking off any of the brackets for the power steering. So good luck and have fun
You have to remove the bracket that has the PS and AC on it and swing it over to the side. You can set the PS pump on top of the steering box. If it won't stay out of the way you can use a bungee cord etc to hold it to the side. Its really not a big deal.
