Newer Cab

I have a 75 4x4 standard cab. I also have a 75 4x4 standard cab cab.

Will this be plug and play as far as wiring coming through the firewall? Will it require some wiring changes? Should I transfer the wiring from behind the dash of the 75 cab to the 78.

I plan on transfering the speedo, gauges etc. from the 75 into the 78 mainly because it's missing from the 78. Would I be better off to grab one from another 78?

Ok now a few pics for you all.

This is where I spend two of my days off during the week working for parts.

This will be my new cab.

Does the 78 have the wiring? If so, use that harness. Swapping out the dash clusters are not a direct swap meaning you can't swap idiot lights for gauges and vice versa. If the 78 had gauges, you'll need gauges. Look at both connectors between the two and go from there.

Pics look like a gold mine.

The 78 has the coming through the firewall so for now I will assume it is intact. I can most likely pull an insturment cluster (that's what I meant by gauges and speedo, just couldn't think of it in my first post) from another truck and use it. I thought of taking a picture of each truck where the wiring exits through the firewall and seeing how close they are.

A couple things might be different in the engine bay such as whether you have electronic ignition and the A/C or non A/C stuff. The differences under the hood are easier to make work than inside the cab.

Ya I have thought of the electronic ignition. Both trucks are non A/C.

The fellow that owns it is a Ford guy. He is a retired fellow, is fairly well off and I think it's more of a hobby than anything else. He doesn't sell much and would prefer to sell everything as a project.

Something else I just thought of. 75 is standard, 78 is auto so there would be some extra wiring for the neutral safety switch.
