Do Mods Void Warranty

So, if I put an exhaust system on my 2010 F150 XLT, will it void my warranty?

Only the warranty on the stock exhaust.

Not that some Ford dealers won't try to say it is voided.

There is a law out there that states the dealer has to prove the aftermarket part caused the problem to void that part of the warranty. I don't remember what it is called.

But as mentioned just the exhaust won't be warrantied (through ford - will have the exhaust manufacturers warranty). If you get a cat back I beleve the cats will still hold the federal 60K (I think) warranty.

The Emissions warranty is 8 years, 80,000 on F150. F250 and larger only get a 5 year / 50,000.

So long as you don't mess with the cats or other emissions parts you should be fine, a catback or muffler will not void your warranty.

The law is the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, US Code Title 15, Chapter 50.

Maybe...maybe not.

Would an exhaust void your tire, paint, or stereo warranty? Probably not.

Could it void your engine warranty? Absolutely. It depends on the dealer and Ford.

If the claim is denied, it's not up to the manufacturer (Ford) to prove your aftermarket part caused the failure; it's up to you to prove it didn't.

Guess who has more time, money, and experts?

Dealers are monitored and rated by Ford for the amount of warranty work they do. If they have too much, Ford refuses to pay them for questionable warranty repairs (actually the dealer is charged-back, but you get the picture) or forces the dealer to jump through a bunch of hoops to get paid.

In short, an exhaust is not usually a big deal, but it could be.

That's why you keep the OEM exhaust in your rafters for when your engine blows.
