Who really cares? A lot of things void warranties. I have modified cars in the past and by doing so I voided every warranty the thing came with. I have never had the need to have anything on a vehicle repaired or replaced under warranty. Worst case if you needed to take it in, just return the item to factory spec and no one will be the wiser. If I had one of the new trucks, I would remove all of the emissions stuff on day one.
Just my opinion. Don't do it if voiding a warranty bothers you.
That sucks. I am not paying the ridiculous amount they want to fix the filter, just on principle alone. I found a delete package for $700. I will go with that and hope for the best. I could fix a lot of things for the amount they want to replace a filter. Crazy.
The more crap put into newer cars, the more expensive. My next vehicle is going to be something old, something with no emissions equipment on it and no computers on it.

Huh? If they are charging you to fix it, then where is your warranty?
And for the record, modifying the exhaust will void your engine warranty, which is 5yr/100k. Your powertrain warranty is only 60k, and covers transmission, transfer case, axles. What you do to the exhaust should not affect that.
Your emissions warranty is also 5/100, and will be voided.
Of course, you may have purchased ESP, but then I have to ask again, why are they trying to charge you for a DPF?
That would be better than the expense of vehicles today. It is the same reason I don't embrace technology. It is just something to drain money from people's pockets that does nothing to support life.
Lets bring back drum brakes, vacuum windshield wipers, and acetylene lights as well!
I would be for it. I drove a friend's car one time, a 1953 Chevrolet sedan, and he warned about the absence of power brakes or steering, manual column shift, etc., and I had no problems with it, in fact, I loved it. If I could get a hold of an old 50s car, it would be my daily driver.

You are halfway there already...no emissions equipment on your 7.3 liter. (unless you have a cat...)
I am ok with computers on vehicles. They have made it possible for vehicles to operate well over 100k miles without a hint of failure in most cases. In the old days, a carburetor and distributor engine would be at the end of it's life once it hit 100k miles.
I like old trucks. I can remember when we had or were mechanics that repaired trucks instead of TECHNICIANS that analyze and replace parts until they luck up and and finally get it. Always expensive. I started out as a service man and was later given the title of SERVICE TECHNICIAN. All that helped was the company could charge more for a TECHNICIAN.

Not sure what you are talking about but there is full coverage of the engine on diesels until 160,000KM, this covers all major components. Unles you meant miles. Which I assume you are considering you are from CA.
Either way they told me that the DPF was not covered under warranty. They were also arguing that my intake "may" have cause this issue, which is BS. I didn't even add the intake it was already on the truck.
Like I said, I am going ahead with the DPF delete. This should solve the issue.

Well, think about it this way then, back in the 50's, some people might have still been mad about not being able to just ride their horse everywhere anymore, so maybe you should go back to riding a horse! Those 50's cars all have what was once some new fangled technology that was no good for anything other then draining money out of peoples pockets!
