steering wheel options

I have the original steering wheel on my truck it's almost too big for my belly and it's HUGE...but you all know that...i picked up a grant steering wheel that it the 5 hole gt style and only 13 inches but i didn't estimate the cost of the adapter at 50+ dollars...so i was wondering if there was a stock option from another vehicle...and if there was other vehicle adapters that work on our trucks...like one for a newer f series or something...and if anyone has one for sale that'll fit it...i'm open to offers or trades...i have lot's of stuff.

I put a 1986 Lariat wheel on my 1977 F-150. Its basically a 78/79 wheel but leather wrapped and its not a huge either. Some mods were needed, you would need to do the same to intall a 78-86 wheel unless you want to swap in a 78/79 column which I was not interested in doing.

This is the Grant GT wheel I put in my truck, and the adapter was only like $20 a few years ago, Autozone has it for $25 now

EDIT: This is an old pic

If it is a 73-77 wheel in good shape (if such a thing exists lol) I'd be interested in buying it

The stock 1977 wheel was 16.5 inches across. The 86 Lariat wheel (78-86) measures 15.5. Only one inch difference but it sure seems like a lot more that that! It seems WAY smaller to me.

That is a good looking wheel. I've had quite a few early 80s Mustangs and sold all of them with the wheels on the cars. I actually have one left. It looks a lot like the sport wheels available in the late 70s on the truck but the trucks have the horn button. I'm wondering if the horn button from the truck sport wheel will fit the Mustang wheel.

Interesting that this should come up, I'm in need of a wheel for my 78 bronco, the padding is missing from the steel rod from about 10 to 12 o'clock on it... uncomfortable and a bit cold in the winter.

I have one of those ugly (in my opinion) Grants, Exactly like the one in jsuttons pic on my donor truck...But good heavens, these things are only like 13" or 14"... how do you get any torque/leverage on turning? Even with power steering, I want more leverage than that. If I wasn't cranking 33s I might try it.

Iwas gonna look for one of the plastic/finger notched rimmed ones like in my 78 250... But am open to suggestions of anything else that will direct fit, thats about 16", that i could look for. (anybody want to trade for the Grant?)

I see grant makes a 'mustang' wheel in a 15" model. the stock wheel on these trucks are huge, and the tiny grant we have is like 8"...... well not really but it sucks.

Grant has some good stuff

I have the factory sport wheel, it's a lot more comfy in my opinion. If you can find a nice one, it's probably going to be a lot more expensive than the grant adapter.

Hey redsuperduty, that's the best steering wheel I've seen, but that's me personally. What's the diameter on that? Can we buy modern reproductions of that anywhere? Thanks.

The early 80s Mustang wheels mentioned above look almost exactly like that, they might even be exactly the same.

I guess mine's okay because it's just a 2wd on 275/60/15's, but even with that little grant steering wheel I can still turn with just one finger.
