1980 rear end numbers

Hey all,
I got these numbers off the tag on the rear end. I cleaned the tag as best I could and I'm fairly certain this is whats on there. Any help on them?

VD
MBK2
3K21
509
S31

To my knowledge, this is the original rear end

Thanks,

DS

I must have fat fingered the keyboard to get the smiley. That would be S318 d as in "delta"

I must be blind and/or stupid 'cuz this makes no sense. I've been searching the forums, web etc and make no sense of the 3K2150 9 S31 part of the tag. The dana 44 on the front had 3.50, obviously the gear ratio. I hardly believe there would be a 2.15 rear end gear with that in the front.

still working on it,
DS

I searched what info I have only 2. ratio is
Ford... 8.8"....... 3750....2.47
Unless it is not original and is out of a car. After the 2.47 it list 3.0 up to 4.11. You have me scratching my head.

I'm going back under the truck. Maybe I can make sense of it. I'll repost if I come up with something

OK, I just got back out from the truck. With wire brush and flashlight in hand, here is what I have (in the order on the tag)

JDM BK2 3K21
50 9 S318d

Maybe 3:21 ratio?

Yes, you have a Ford 9" with a 3.50:1 ratio. Many times, the first number of the gear ratio on the bottom line is covered by the bolt holding the tag, in your case it's the "3" in "3 50 9 ...."

Thanks much for the info. I'll go ahead and take the bolt off and really clean the tag (blast, paint etc) and then reinstall it. I should also check to see if there is an L as well

Thanks x 10 to everyone,

DS

'83 rear end numbers

I was scanning the threads for this same info for my own truck. The tag on my axle reads as follows:
3 54 E3TA CRA
605215 4 LS

I removed it, so I know the mounting holes aren't cutting any digits off. Can any one assist in telling me what my ratio is?

Thanks,
Mary

Thank you for the quick response. That's what I wanted to guess, only the data plate had the info opposite of davidsca's.
