I have a 1993 Aerostar Extended with a 4.0L engine. The exhaust is leaking from a flex pipe that is stock exhaust. My question, what is the purpose of the flex pipe here? Can I replace it with a straight pipe and not cause anything to break?
Find out the purpose of the flex pipe because I had the same thing on my 96. I thought, okay, a hole in the muffler. Well, it had a hole in the flex pipe. Stainless Steel Flex pipe cost me 100$ installed. Took the guy 1/2 hour to cut it out and reweld the new one.
If you don't need the flex pipe, weld a straight pipe, cheaper
