Could use a little help trying to install upfitter switches 2010 F350 cannot for the life of me find the plug for the truck harness, instructions say should be straight up above the gas pedal There is nothing there, However near the parking brake release. There is a plug with a gray safety plug that looks about the same size? However The kit that I just received has the plug for the truck connection in the middle of the harness it would make sense that the plug would be near the gas pedal and then the wire would continue on to the switches in the dashboard. I mounted the fuse box, everything went okay to this point, and of course they didn't include the two screws to hold the fuse box Nice. Does anyone have an idea where this mysterious harness connection is located on a newer truck 2009 or 10. I have a feeling he sent me the wrong harness assembly. I'm pretty sure that plug on the left-hand driver's-side near the parking brake release is what I should be plugging into but if I did it would not be long enough to reach the switches. PS I wish I could post a picture and here are the part numbers 9C3Z-14A303-A WIRE ASY switch 7C3Z-13D730-AA thanks again.
After doing numerous hours of research on the web, I can honestly conclude no one has a simple diagram or picture of the mysterious connection above the gas pedal or near the steering column, another funny thing all retailers of this switch Kit claim it is a simple click and plug operation which is totally wrong you need to splice together the four wires near the parking brake release, that is easy enough but just not plug and play as claimed on eBay sales as I said, no big deal just misleading. It's kind of funny to me that after all this time, no one would make a simple installation diagram of these switches. I will be stopping at a Ford dealer today, asking him to show me this mysterious plug and where Ford hides it, I will then post the pictures to my own website for all who are interested in this basic installation.
I installed the upfitters on my 2005 many years ago as it did not come from the factory that way. 2005 and 2011 may be apples and oranges, but the plug for my upfitter switch harness was nowhere near the emergency brake. It was in the general area of the glovebox. I believe I dropped the glovebox and it was right there behind it up in the corner.
The 4 wires that you splice into that are up under the steering column/near the Ebrake are the hot wires that you splice into when you want to attach an accessory to an individual switch.
The only unused wire plug near the emergency brake on any ford truck I ever had was for an aftermarket trailer brake controller.
I do not recall having to install a fusebox either. I am pretty sure my upfitter circuits were all ready to roll with fuses pre-installed in the factory in one of the main fuse boxes for the truck. All I had to order to get the upfitters rolling was the harness and upfitter switch assembly (and I believe some relay box thing, it has been a while).
Take a look behind your glovebox and see if there is an unused quick connect harness there. That is where mine was. Good luck!
Well it's all done a nice young mechanic in a Ford dealer, where I will be purchasing my next truck, screw my dealer he wouldn't even order the parts for me, said he couldn't find the numbers a total a'' hole. The guy went out and not only showed me where it was showed me how to pull the dash apart, and took about 15 minutes of his personal time to explain how to run the wires so nothing gets cut and even where to ground the main wire. It turns out the plug I thought on the left-hand side is actually for the airbag system to do a test or something we are not quite sure, I'm glad I didn't plug into it LOL. The entire process took me about a half-hour at best. The plug is located on the right-hand side of the steering column at the top not the bottom where I was looking. He explained to me on many trucks he has done there always a little different, but around that area :-) the only easy way to explain it When you look up and see the bottom of the bezel of the speedometer it's that high look to the right of the steering wheel. The only thing I don't like the wires passing through the firewall are sort of on the light side the two 30 amp especially. I'm going to run my own wires for my new LightForce 240 Blitz Lights. If my KC light bar ever arrive, also installing a back-rack to put some lightforce 140 striker lights up high for backing into job sites, can't see a thing with the ones underneath the back bumper. I will post some photos later, on my Mac webpage. Give me a day take care.
