So i woke up today and found vasoline spread over most of the windows and over the door handles, as well as some of the paint....Is there any good way of getting this off without smearing it?
I would try blotting it up as much as possible with paper towels/rags. Do your best not to smear it. Instead try to "pick it up." Once you got as much off as you can I'd hit it with a degreaser like a Joy or Palmolive with soap and water. You've gone this far might as well wash the whole truck!
Dawn and other degreasers could theoretically damage the clear coat paint, if it has one that is. 1985-1986 models with factory paint, etc, and trucks repainted with clear coats.
If you do use a dish soap, make sure you treat the rubber seals with some type of protectant to keep it from cracking. Believe it or not, vaseline is a good plastic and rubber protectant, as well as silicone lubricant.
Again don't get the silicone lubricant on the paint as it too can damage the clearcoat.
You got lucky it was vaseline. Some sob used brake fluid on my car once. Had to get another paint job. I did find out who did it and paid the sob back with intrest!!
