I have been searching my haynes book for over an hour looking for any info i can on my glow plugs relay. I want to start here before i go digging under valve colvers.
Does anyone know what it should be reading or how i give it a test? Im new to this going into a diesel motor thing.
One of the big posts should have battery voltage at all time. The other big post will have power only when the PCM turns the gp's on. Have a helper turn the truck to "on" while you measure the volts on both big posts. They should be pretty close to each other. If you're getting a difference of more then a volt or two, the contacts inside are burnt and the relay should be replaced.
IIRC, one of the small posts will also have battery voltage all the time, the other post is hooked to the PCM and gets grounded to turn on the relay.
