So, the '74 F-100 I bought is missing the NSS entirely. I've ordered a new one, but since the screws are gone too, I'm not sure what size/thread they were. Anyone know what size/thread screws I should use to match the holes in the steering column?
This spring steel lever [looks sorta like this: )--- ] with its knife blade end snaps onto the shift tube thru a hole in the mast jacket.
The knife blade end fits into the NSS. This lever's knife blade end is notorious for snapping off. And/or the lever loses tensile strength and falls off the shift tube.
Since this part is obsolete, this may be the reason the NSS was missing, for without this lever, the NSS will not work. It's hard to find...if someone doesn't know where to look.
If you need one...

Hrm ... Thanks ... That looks like the right switch, but the mounting screw holes in the steering column definitely aren't as big as 1/4-20. Looks like maybe a #8 or so ... I can pick up a couple sizes and go by trial/error, but I figured if anyone knows already, it'd be worth asking.
Thanks for the tip on the lever too! That does seem to be missing as well. The P.O. just cut the wiring off the switch and jumpered the electrical connector so it'll start in any gear and the reverse lights are never on.
