Talking Converting to a duel tank

I have an F150 short frame with only the midship tank and a flat bed.

The tank leaks when its over half full and the nozzle was mounted too low so when you fill it it keeps clicking the pump off. The tank mounting straps are also missing and someone replaced them with an intresting yet very scary system of bike lock cables and tie down straps (even I'm not hillbilly enough to do that).

I am slowly rebuilding this truck as a solid work truck, and I eventuly want to convert it to a duel tank, but right now for financial reasons I was thinking of just going to the junk yard grabing some gas tank mounting parts, buying a new platic rear tank and geting rid of the leaking tank for now.

Does anyone have any thoughts or helpfull tips on this?

Cheapest route would probably be to replace your ft tank, that way you could re-use your old sending unit. If you have an in tank pump that would apply also. Last tank I replacded I found JC Whitney to be cheapest. If you add a rear tank you could get one for a bronco, they have about twice the capacity as the trucks, but they hang down a little farther.

I'd try to find a similar truck at the 'yard and buy the stock tank(s) and filler tubes, then swap it in. Depending on your needs, one tank might be enough and that might be an easy swap. If the tank you have is in good condition, you might be able to buy the tank straps new or at the 'yard and get rid of your hillbilly mess. I'd also drop the tank completely to make sure the hoses on top are safe and correct; if the PO took so little care to attach the tank, how well did he connect it?
The filler can be raised so that it will work better, but it might take a little cutting and welding of the flatbed. The standard safety warnings apply here, though.
