Good day,

I have been following this thread discussoin re. dimmer switches etc.
I noticed you share this article: Whiter Whites, Brighter Brights .: Articles
I am unfortunately not able to access it, or its not available any longer.
I was wondering if you would be able to re-share it again if possible.

Best regards,

Eugene

I got this upgrade from LMC. I'm not sure my lights are any brighter. Its a pretty straight forward upgrade.

Thanks.
Will this work on my 1979 F250 though?
Im having problems with my dim-brights beam switch.
When I pull the lights switch on, the lights often 1) dont come on 2) ficker on or off.
Not sure if this might be a wire contact issue, short circuit or either the dim/bright switch or headlights switch that needs replacement.
I bought the truck about a week ago, and at the time the lights seemed fine.

yeah, I doubt that would fix your issue. Is there a difference between the low or high beams or they both behave the same? Is it both/left or right? There's really no way to short cut troubleshooting, start with the easy stuff and work your way back. I'd start by connecting a multimeter to the the headlights and see what you get when you pull the lights on.

From what I notice, the brights seem to shine, but dim do not. Both lights behave the same, no difference between right or left.
Will have to check more specifically.

It sounds like the dimmer switch on the floor could be the issue.
When you pull on the head lights the hot wire goes down to the dimmer switch.
The dimmer switch then switches to either the low beams or high beams.
Because this switch in on the floor with your wet & dirty boots the switch lives a hard life.
I would replace the switch as a start as they are not a big $ item.
When you replace it check the plug to make sure the contacts are clean.
Because it is on the floor with the switch and goes thru the same wet & dirt it takes a beating too.

Do that and see what happens and if still has this issue report back and we will go from there.
BTW I also did the LMC head light relay kit and it did make a difference. I dive my truck most of the time to work when it is dark out and we don't have a lot of street lights here.

The kit above is not meant to repair wiring problems. It re-directs the power that is feeding the headlights. Instead of the power going through all the original wiring from the battery, through the firewall, through the switch, through the dimmer switch, and the all the way back out to the lights, the kit feeds power to the headlights directly from the battery, through the relays in the kit, to the headlights. Much less wiring and a shorter distance. It will shorten the life of the bulbs a little bit, but I am not sure how much time that would work out to be over the life and the use of the truck
