I've had a new 12V switch in my 54 for over a year and have never encountered any problems with using a 6V switch. Recently the shaft kept coming out whenever I tried to turn on the headlights. I got a new 12V **** with the correct length of shaft. I am having the same problem as before Where the shaft slips out of the switch without engaging any of the lights.
Does anyone have an ideas for this fix? Ive see a video saying that the face of the switch could be misaligned, but I haven't had any luck with trying to reposition it to fix the problem.
Does it have the button to release the **** and shaft? If so, maybe it just needs a shot of some WD-40 to free it up and lock on the shaft. Or push it harder till it really clicks in.
All I can go by is my 52 so this is a guess. Mine was kind of dry and crusty so I cleaned it up and it works better and the shaft snaps in securely.
