I have just recently purchased the DP and love it. My question is I jumped the gun and installed it without gauges. Although they are next on the list, I tow a 6k travel trailer and have the walker truck muffler and 6637. This will be my first haul next week, do you guys think I will be ok towing 6K in 60T?

Initially I would say no, but a lot depends on how big your 6k lbs is (wind resistance) and if the terrain is flat or hilly. Even with that weight and some good hills you can get things pretty warm with an extra 60 ponies.
To the OP, I. would do the exhaust first. You could get by without it, but why spend the money on a chip if you can't use it to it's full potential? If it's "slightly out of your budget", then don't over spend yourself, buy what you can afford.
I just put a Diamond Eye exhaust on my truck, very happy with it, great fit and sound!
I have the Walker and the dp, tow my 02 Wildcat 5th wheel, use 40T and 60T, have not had a temp issue yet, according to the gauges. The 5th wheel is like around 8k'ish. My Walker has been on since around 2008, and w/i the last 6 months or so it has started rattling. It appears to be inside because when I press on the muffler it will stop. I shoulda listened and went straight pipe, just was worried about the noise.

Its really hard to say Joe. I always keep an eye on my pyrometer when towing. I can tow in 80E on normal terrain & still not have a problem with EGT's while towing my 5th wheel. Pulling decent hills is a different story, in 60T I have to watch cause the EGT's can climb up pretty quick on harder pulls for me. Kicking it out of OD helps on hills on the highway cause it keeps the RPM's up & lowers the EGT's. I have to be more careful on the secondary roads here in Pa when pulling the hills on the windy roads.. thats where its harder to keep the EGT's in line when pulling the hills in the lower gears. A good set of gauges will be your best friend when towing.I had some serious tranny overheating issues about a month ago on a trip & i'm really glad I had a tranny temp gauge or my problems would have been a LOT worse..
So higher RPM equals lower EGT? I am curious if I need to leave it in stock until I get gauges. I have only towed it a few times and it seemed to tow in OD with the RPM's around 1800-2000. Should I tow with the OD off with out the 60T or with it? How do you guys tow?

Yes, for the most part they do. You are 2wd and are running stock or almost stock tires so you should be ok, but don't put the gauges off for to long. Biggest thing is when you pull a hill don't lug it down because thats when the EGT's really start shooting up. Pull it out of overdrive and keep the rpm's 2200-2500 or so and you should be ok.

I've also towed in 80E & 60T on the highway with very little issues in either tune.. At highway speeds, kicking the OD off helps when pulling a hill, cause you are at lower RPM's at cruising speeds. I keep it in OD, until I start pulling a grade, then kicking it out of OD kicks your RPM's up. I'm no expert, but if I remember reading it right.. higher RPM's means the turbo is forcing more air through = lower EGT's. Now when you are pulling a hill at slower speeds. the tranny kicks down to a lower gear & OD doesn't even play into the factor.. so the skinny pedal is what I use to keep the EGT's in check.. which is where gauges come into play.
I have a 6637 on my excursion, yesterday I put on a walker btm, today I received my dp-tuner. I'm running the dp. A couple of spurts here or there shouldn't hurt anything. Long sustained 1/8 mile runs might but i'm not doing that. I'll put on some gauges when I find a good deal on a used set.
Might also want to look at getting the WW ( wicked wheel). I was getting surge with my stock wheel with the superchip till Mike ( bigpappa) gave me his ( thanks again Mike). When you get the DP you will most likely need it anyways...
