Me and my dad haul junk cars and scrap to make extra money. We deal with a new yard that opened and the owner is cool. He will sell you anything that comes in for a little more than scrap price. I have bought a model a axle 4x2 sbc intake, performer rpm intake and other stuff from him. We went by there today and I saw an old dent that had came in there. I figure just another 302 or fe truck. I open the hood and see a big block. I think its a 460. Look again and realize that it is. I see the owner and ask. He says they loaded it with scrap and drove it in there. I ask how much for it. He says make offer, I ask him to price it and he says $400, I say sold. We went back and get it and I put a battery on it and drove it on the trailer. It has a terrible exhaust leak and needs a tuneup but the engine seems in good shape. I plan to rebuild it and swap it into the bump probaly next summer. For a while I will have a yard truck. Here are some pics of it
looks like a fine rebuildable truck. the bed has no rust from what i can see and no major dents. i'd love to have that chrome from the side. is it in as good of shape as it looks?
I don't plan on taking it apart until next summer or so. When I do I would sell stuff that I am not going to use. The bed is rough. It would be a fixable truck but would end up costing to much. If I had it at 16 I would apready be sanding on it. lol. Here are some more pics
dads truck hauling it home
I took some more pics
here is the truck I plan to swap the 460 into
kinda photogenic the interior doesn't look this good in real life
I put another ignition box on it. I think this one was used up
today I got to messing with it. The ignition box was leaking goo so I put another one I had on it. I cleaned up an old set of spark plugs and put them in. The gas tank leaks bad. I ran a hose from the fuel pump to a 2 gallon gas jug. I crank it up and it idles smooth and revs clean. Tie gas jug up so I got to test it out. Go back and forth a little to make sure everything works. Ok its time for some fun. I pull in the driveway and powerbrake it. I stop after a get a huge smoke cloud going. Let everything settle and do it again. I decided to stop before I blew the old mud grip out. Is it sad that a stock 460 truck from the junkyard with $10 worth of work runs harder than my 390 .060 over headers cam inatke holley and rebuilt heads.
