I have 1966 Ford F-100 with a six cylinder and three speed on the column. The motor has a cracked block. What motors will bolt up to the present three speed manual transmission? I would like to go to a v/8 motor. What do I need to make a good , clean swap?
for the 302 and 351w, which you can pull out of number of years out of trucks. in 86 is when efi (electronic fuel injection) was standard so unless you want a lot more wiring i would choose an older motor.
You shouldn't have to deal with any smog issues due to the year of truck so tearing off any smog stuff will not be a problem if that is the only type you can get.
I'm not entirely sure if you will need to drill any holes into the crossmember at all. Though I'll quote a funny comment I got when I considered a small block swap.
"I can't help but ask when I see that small motor in the engine bay, What will it be when it grows up?"
