For the OP: 9000 lbs fully loaded is pretty light for a 32 foot 5'er. Even the 2000+ PI'd 2V will pull that with no issues - especiallyl with a 5 Star tune.
The higher power output and 5r110 tranny in the '05+ V10's are very nice, but many of us are quite satisfied with the PI 2V. Come on down to the V10 forum if you have more detailed questions! .
What's with the siamesed powerplants on the 747? I had never seen that...
Isn't going off topic wonderful?
That Boeing was rebuild for the movies. Would you watch 007 series -you'd see it. Don't think it ever fly with those engines.
Back to the OP. A Power Stroke....any Power Stroke, should easily be able to handle 9000 pounds on a 5th wheel or bumper pull.. A 3V 5.4L with 4.10 gearing can easily handle the load.
Before you replace the truck, how is it set up? What is the pin weight? What type of trailer is it? Do you have any aerodynamic additions to the truck, like an air deflector on the cab?
OK. No experience towing with a 2V engine so I can only speak to what I know.
I was just giving you a hard time on that one But the 2v will handle it with no problems. It may need 3,500 rpms going up some long hills, but that's what they are there for.
