This might be a huge question, but what would be involved in swapping in a 429 where a 300-6 was?

4 speed manual...new process trans. can't remember numbers
3.50 gears
all gear transfer case
the bellhousings are the same if you get a winsor or a cleveland. then you would just have to get new frame perches and mounts and accessory brackets. and a ignition box. that is VERY important. but i dont think the 460 swap would be that hard. L&L sells whole kits to do the swap you're wanting to do. although, they are very expensive.
Sounding better. I was thinking either 429 or 351. I may get shot for this, but have never been too big on 400 or 460. Just trying to find out what my best options are.
its not that hard and you don't need new driveshafts because you don't relocate the transmission and transfer case and you don't need a new ignition box because they are the same for all size engines (but there is more than one type). you will need the engine, an econoline van or mid 80's 460 pickup mid sump oil pan and pick up tube, a bellhousing and flywheel, possibly a clutch as yours may be smaller (have to pull it to find out, many 6's have the big clutch), you will need a mount kit, new exhaust, you probably won't need new springs as the 460 is only 150 pounds or so heavier (it's like having an extra passenger who always pushes!LOL), and will need to fabricate accssory brackets or buy an LandL kit. it really isn't bad and tons of people have done it. an F150 is the same as a bronco on the front end so you might want to check out some of the bronco web pages that show the conversion. it is a really popular conversion and well worth the effort. my 77 1/2 F250 has a 460 swap and is virtually teh same swap. hawkrod
we say 460 because the 429 only came in cars so the parts you need have to come from a truck or van and they are 460's. they are the same engine with a different crankshaft and pistons (everything else is the same). most people don't bother with a 429 because it costs the same for either one and that extra 30 cubes is free horsepower! hawkrod
