How much gas mileage will a 429 get with headers auto tranny and god knows what gear ratio in a 79 ford f-150 4x4 with 33x12 sportking tires. The engine has 30000 miles on it and is out of a 68 thunderbird.

There is no way of even coming up with a guess without knowing the rear end gears, or weather the engine runs perfect. All I can tell you is that with those size tires 10MPG would be a miracle.

my 429 in my 79 f-250 4wd came out of a 71 t-bird, she gets usually about 10 mpg, 9 with a load and 11 on the highway, its got 3.54 gears, t-18 tranny, and 33's, with 2-1/4 duals with 12 inch glassapcks and an edelbrock carb, it burns about a quart every 500 miles so after im through with the lift and tires and gears and so on (lol) i guess ill build me a 460
