Timing Knock?

Timing Knock?
Yesterday while searching I came across and post where it was noted if you press on the lever on the left side of the injector pump and the knock goes away it means something but I be damd if I can find the post again to tell me what it means!!!
I have a knock and checked my injectors both loosening the line and also reading the Temp on each injector, I then remembered the lever deal and the knock went away,
What is this telling me??
Is it that my truck is out of time????
