poossibly stupid question about Tailgate...

poossibly stupid question about Tailgate...

PO put a junkyard tailgate on my truck, and it has six holes in it, definately factory made running 3 across and two down the tailgate... I have no idea what they are for but would like to maybe plug them? Then the other day I saw another truck on the road with the same exact 6 holes? Anybody know what they are for and what goes in them?

Yep, holes are on the outside, but they are big, over 1", and not centered, and the tailgate has the big FORD embossed in it

The holes were used to hold the brushed aluminum cover on that you see in the pic next to the blue tail gate in the above link.

I was thinking that might be it... anyone know what I can plug the holes with? What about the big FORD letters, try to tape them out and paint them?

For plugging the holes, you could try finding some rubber plugs from a hardware store maybe? As for painting the letters, can't see why masking off around them won't work...

Yeah or maybe floor drain hole plugs from a Jeep...

Found this, anyone ever use one?
