Ok my 1990 f250 needs exhaust its rotten, the only performance exhaust system im seeing is made by dynomax are they the only company building performance exhaust for these trucks? i dont know if i want to turbo the truck im hearing mixed horror storys about turbos on these trucks especially about them blowing head gaskets so i would like to try an aftermarket exhaust system any ideas??
nobody really makes stuff for our exhaust. you can buy one for the 94.5-97 psd and just tap it in from the y pipe back. any half *** exhaust shop will be able to build a system for you in a few hours. and those "horror" stories your hearing about turbo idi's are coming from people who are retarded. theres no issue with throwing a turbo on these engines as long as you keep your 7.3l under 15psi preferably closer to 12-13psi.
I got your back, hahaha. I need to finalize my setup for the IDI non turbo with a tip but i dont want to since the banks kit fell in my lap so alas, it will all come off soon anyway haha. I can Fab up a decent dual 3" into single 4" or whatever you need, just have to have the truck to tinker on since they all sit different.
thnx oreocreaming for the info another problem im running into is how much those turbo kits are new yikes id love to try and find a 100% complete turbo setup thats used because i just cant see spending 2500-3000 dollars on a turbo when i could get a powerstroke truck for a little more than that
Yeah but then it would be a stroke and stock they are only about 5-10hp over our trucks. With all of my tinkering and mods, i can roll a stroke no problem. their turbos didnt do much. When i get my turbo on, itll be d-day for em! New IP cranked up, matched BB injs, Banks sidewinder, and straight short exhaust its game time!! Thats all being tame, i could go with head studs, all new seals and roll out the boost on em!! haha. But nah, im gonna keep it at around 12 and make my rig last. It already does what i wanted and soon it will dominate those poor early strokes haha.
EDIT Craigslist and Ebay you can score whole used banks sets for 500-750 pretty regular.
you can find a used turbo for your idi for a few hundred bucks but its gonna need some work/parts. there was one floating around here for $300 but it needed a couple parts. to have it rebuilt will be around 600 bucks. wastegated turbos are better but non wastegated will still give you more power and better mpg.

if ya dont mind a little cackle, then a strait pipe exhaust is the best.

as far as performance, this is not the case.
the dynomax ultra flow welded muffler can handle drag cars with 2,000 hp.
so a straight pipe is only cheaper, with lots of blat, lots of interior drone, and louder.no better.
* Stainless steel construction for lifelong protection.
* 100-percent Welded design for maximum durability.
* Dyno proven to flow up to 2,000 SCFM and support up to 2,000 horsepower.
* Straight-through design ensures unrestricted exhaust flow and reduces back pressure.
* CRF Technology absorbs unwanted interior resonance while maintaining a deep performance tone.

a strait pipe can handle infinite horsepower lol. A straight pipe isnt that bad when your cruising. Hell with the windows up I cant even really hear the exhaust. The only time its loud is when you really get into the throttle. I say it promotes good mileage, since if you want it to be quiet you have to take off slowly LOL
cool thnx for all the help my father n law said i should run straight pipe with duals behind the rear tires and shoot them out at angles with 4 inch pipe
Yes, I understand your setup is better, but will you notice a difference in power just because of the T instead of the Y???
i think thats why i felt the difference so much.with a n/a engine,it's hard to believe the increased pipe alone did so much.
mandrel bends are extremely important for performance.so certainly a major kink such as that, plays a huge role.
when it comes to exhaust.its all about the flow, not just volume.
(someone elses pics.i had mine built right on the truck.)
you don't need to be an expert to see which one flows better there.that pics makes it clear.
also keep in mind, the pipes don't really need to be any larger than stock at the Y as they are only carrying 4 cylinders each.
its all about how they join (flow) and some extra size for volume from there on back.
