Hey check this out. I would say to get them tested with a meter. But Chances are, if they have never been changed and you have 80k, there are at least some that have gone out. I just changed all of mine out for the first time at 160k. It was super hard to get my truck started in the cold before unless it had been plugged in all night. Winter is coming so we will see.
As for the procedure, it is not easy but it is not impossible. Time consuming though. Especially for your first time. There is always that learning curve. Here is a link to check out. This is how I got it all done:
If you do a search on this I'm sure you can find the DIY (do it yourself) instructions with step by step descriptions and pictures. I have it here on my computer so if you PM me your email address I can send it your way. Just let me know. I'm happy to help
Edit:As for cost --> Depends on what tools you have. You will need a set of wobble joints for your sockets or else this process is literally impossible. I think I bought an all inclusive set for like $25. And the Glow Plugs I got all 8 of them for about $90-$95 bucks. Make sure to get the Motocraft ones, NOT the Autolites.
