Good to know. That may explain my recent "lack of juice" sound. I did a lot of work lately with my dome light in my truck on, and also the under hood light on in addition to doing AUX lighting mods. I needed a jump about 3 times in one day and it was because in order to mount my switch on my dash without completely taking my dash out of my truck, I had to have the ignition on so that I could put my truck in gear to allow it to pop off far enough.
Ha Ha, atta boy Tom. Ya, I'm looking forward to elk hunting here in MT too. Only problem is, if i drop one I have no place to store the meat. I'm here for another 3 months and I need to put my 270 to use and pack one out. They should be fat since the ditches have been green all the way through summer.
Spool, I have 2 big deep freezers and a barn to hang game, and all the butchering equipment as well, you kill one, let me know
Have to love early season hunting, anything from can't feel your fingers to can't see for the sweat in your eyes..... But the bulls are bugling hard now here, first trip out had one at 30 yards, just no good angles for a shot such is bow hunting...
I know most of already are aware of this, but this morning it was a warm 48*. My Battery light flickered while my truck was turning over. I took it as the truck reminding me.. she doesnt like winters. So I went in and cleaned my battery terminals and lubbed them up with some Nolax.. Thought I might share, knowing that some of use wait until we are reminded..
I guess that time is approaching. I'm used to just getting in & turning the key.. Not sure what the overnite low was.. but I got in turned the key & it cranked but didn't fire.. I was like... then I realized.. its been cooler at nite.. cycled the glowplugs for a lil & it fired right up

Ugggh, you guys are confused.. There's nothing better than the changing seasons.. watching the leaves change color in the fall.. But I hate nothing worse than hunting deer in warm weather.. Give me a foot of snow on the ground & I am a happy camper
We do miss the seasons here, but man its a beautiful place to live.
You get used to the heat after a while...
All I can say is that, "a while" is longer than 22 years. Im still waiting, but then again I lived up north for 35 years and never got used to the cold, but heat is better than cold any day. Im staying here.
It was in the lower to mid 90's a few weeks ago up here & it sucked.. I hate sweating just sitting still.... Awesome weather now.. low 70's in the day & 50-60 at night
ghig1967.. I agree. Hunting is no good when your sweating, and the changing of the seasons is one of the best things about good ol Western PA.
Funny this came up, I printed out the directions of Ohm out GPs just last week when I got up one morning and the ol girl let me know it getting cooler overnight.
So I have been prepping my truck for the winter. I replaced the glow plugs, and flushed my power steering fluid (ATF) with synthetic mercon v. Went to the local O'Reillys and got my batteries, alternator, and starter tested. Everything checked out except for the alternator. He says it is reading way low. I definitely need one here within the next week before it starts getting really cold. I just put in new glow plugs so I was wondering why it sounded a little more hesitant to turn over than usual on the first start of the day. The rebuilt ones are $170 and the new ones are $190. Should I just go ahead and buy one?
I would buy an alternator as soon as you can, or your going to ruin your batteries from drawing them down to far. The slow rolling over is due to lack of charge, as well as your new glowplugs drawing alot of current first thing in the morning now that they work correctly.
OK... Thanks. I just hate spending that much doe on stuff that doesn't make my truck any more BA. But then again, maintenance is key. What is a BA truck if it wont start. I think I am going to go with the new one. Its only $20 more and he said that the new ones have bigger parts inside that keep it from burning up. They push out a lot of power to juice both batteries so I might as well. Plus, they both have lifetime warrantys
