Does anyone know the average weight of an empty 20+5' flatbed gooseneck trailer?? I know how much weight (roughly) is going to be on the trailer, and I'm just trying to figure up the total weight load vs. my truck's GCWR. thanks for any help.
are you registered for a certain GCVWR? If so, what?
remember that any combination rated for 26,001# or more will require a class A license. If you have a Super Duty, you've already got at least 8,800# GVWR which only leaves 17,200# for trailer before you hit 26,000. (Laws are based on rated weight, not actual weight)
I'm saying this just in case you are looking at something like an 18k, 20k, or 24k trailer.
as far as weights go, the GCVWR of your pickup and trailer is the sum of the GVWRs. Keep a good 15% of the trailer weight on the tounge, and stay within your GAWRs, and GVWRs and you're fine. To get an accurate empty weight of the trailer, you have to weigh it. There is so much variation in trailers that they are impossible to compare.
Your trailer should have a weight rating label on it. It will list the GVWR of the trailer (total rated load).
The actual dry weight of the trailer would not be listed on that label. For a 25' trailer, assuming it has two axles, a 3200# dry weight would be close to reality.
