If you click on the link and look at the pistons in the block halfway down the page, these are with the slugs in my block look like.... but mine have .060 stamped in the middle, and they have an arrow on the bottom that points forward...
Has anybody seen these pistons is a 400... and knows a little about them... like who made them and what the - is for cc etc...
351c pistons do look alike but are different, they have around 12ccs in them, the ones shown in this picture are early 70s pistons they are falt tops with 3cc valve relieves, they are still donw in the hhole.
400 pstons you are talking about are 13.75ccs, at least the most common of them, do your pistons look like the ones shown by fabmandelux?
i dont remember the brand, but its a common one and stock pistons are forged..
They look exactly like the F-100 Cleveland pistons in the link...but they are not down in the hole... they seem even with the deck.... at least if you put a ruler across them they seem even... Dont have a digital camera right now... I wish I could provide pics...
They arent like the stockers with the four valve reliefs and the dish.... This think is like an 80s early 90s vintage thing I would guess with not much mileage... just wondering if they were a common pistion and you guys have seen them before on other engines.....
Just to let you know.... this thing also has rollerized rockers.... the are stamped shells, but they have a roller fulcrum, and the outer collar on the input shaft of the C-6 was sheared off at the case.... so I guess this thing ran pretty well....

Do you mean this picture?
That piston in the photo above looks exactly like the ones pictured on ebay when I bid on 8 and won them a few years ago. Even the arrow matches.
However, when I got my pistons, below is the piston I got. I measured the dish at 0.062" (about 1/16") from the highest point and compresion height measured at 1.6437 near as I can make it out.
I think the piston pictured in the add and above may be the Silvolite 1160 which has a 1/8" dish according to what I could find on the internet, it certainly had a deeper dish than those I got.
Anyway, my pistons had shallower dish and the arrow was different.
On the other side of the motor, the arrow is near bottom.
Below is a picture from the add of what I believe are Silvolite #1160 pistons with deeper 1/8" dish and a compression height of 1.630" and an advertized CR of 7.9. Definately not what I got.
The arrow on my pistons are not on the valve reliefs... they are just like the arrows pictured, but they are on the bottom of the piston- on the exhaust valve side of the block- but sort of the same thing.... still have to look for part numbers....

Reason: links came up

The arrows point to the front of the motor as you know. On the right side of the engine, the arrows would be in the intake valve relief. On the left side of the engine, the same arrows on the same pistons would be in the relief for the exhaust valve.
I am pretty sure that they are offerings from Ohio Piston.... they are marked 1004P on the bottom on the side for the piston skirt..... anybody have any info on the pistons?
Ohio made cast flat top pistons for the 400. The part number sounds familar. I had a set in my original 408. They made about 9.0:1 compression ratio. They were not zero deck, they sit about 0.070 down the hole. They are no longer available, but Tim meyer offers some nice zero deck hyper pistons.
