It fried the first one in May, to the tune of $1000 payable to the stealership for a new one and flash. As i attempted to reinstall the chip today the truck pulled a no start. I already felt I knew what was wrong. So I went to my friends yard and removed his computer from his dead E350. The good news, my truck started immediatly. I've been running sluggish w/ alot of white smoke. I poured two bottles of diesel injector cleaner in on a near empty tank and drove it hard in second at speeds of 45 to 50 mph home. It runs good now w/ a dash of black smoke upon acceleration. Any reason why this tuner would destroy two computers?

They were emery clothed and electro contact cleaned. First sign of problem I had was in February when tuner control would display black screen and would require to be unplugged and replugged back in to work.
Like David said you need to contact Jody and see what they say. Did you pull your chip with they keys in the ignition? What the chip loose enough to move and make intermittent contact with other pins? It sounds like the chip was able to move since you would have times that your switcher wasn't illuminated and you would have to reposition the chip. I have used alot of these style chips and haven't seen anything like this happen except for when the chip was pulled with key on or in the ignition. PCM's are only $75-$150 if you know where to look so if you need help let us know.
Also, I wouldn't run with that Econo PCM until you talk to Jody. I don't know the parameters of their tuning, but it probably isn't the best way to go, IMO.
Did you get in touch with Jody or Diane??? That's where i would've started, not the effin stealership...IMHO
I bought that thing so long ago(06) I would'nt even know where the paperwork or numbers went. It's my bread and butter so I needed it fixed yesterday. I was lucky the 03 comp worked on it since it's an 02.

No , I had the comp. removed from the vehicle becuase it's in the van body and halfway through the firewall. The new pcm came from a e450 cube 7.3. , My e350 is actually running better, probably from the hard run w/ injector cleaner. The longstanding issue is the service engine light will not reset and no trouble codes are present.
If the light is on, there are trouble codes present. Whatever you're using just isn't able to see them. I'm also guessing your sluggishness will return soon enough since I doubt the injector cleaner could help that much for the nozzles. You probably just loosened the crud on the screens in the mixing chamber.
Hope you don't hurt something just randomly swapping computers.

The chip is a moot object until power is applied to it. If the power was on via the keys being in the ignition when the chip was installed or pulled out or the Dealer reflashed the PCM with the chip installed, they are the ones who fried your computer. When the PCM is fried the chip will likely be fried also and is why you could be having another no start problem.
The white smoke with sluggish power could be IPR sensor or ICP sensor related. Have you had the valve covers off for any reason? Double check the UVC connection under the valve covers. Read the codes and don't take it back to that dealership to do it.
Call Jody or James Monday to see if they have any more insight on what could be going on.

Thanks. I wrote you guys a note. The chip has been to the side since the last pcm failure. I need it back due to poor fuel milage.Unforunately I disposed of the chip due to a hot head. The truck only runs smoke free after a hard run and while hot. I just restarted it to find the sputter and blue smoke returned. This has been a longstanding problem with this vehicle. the chip corrected this while it was working. I will call you guys around wensday when i take off from work. once again, thanks.
I have to agree with Joe. The OP has the right to an explanation of what happened and help with his PCM. Dealerships always blame the tuner for failures when in fact they don't take the time to examine what they did wrong. We get 3-4 calls and emails weekly for Dealerships frying PCM's and chips during a trucks visit to them.

What did the dealer do wrong? If a customer is not aware they should take out a chip or inform them they have one. Is it the responsibility of a dealership to check for a chip?
