I'm only getting one side here. I can only assume our customer informed the dealer or who worked on his truck of the chip by his post.

You're right, responsibity is partly theirs, but mostly the customers. If they see a cord coming from the PCM and mounted to the dash then Yes they should ask the customer what it is and how it is to be handled before going any further. On the other hand if you have a chip it is also your responsibilty to make the dealer or who works on it aware of the chip.

Our customers should always remove the chip before taking their truck to a dealer. It is noted on the first line of our installation instuctions to remove the keys from the ignition before installing the chip. Writing to the PCM to reflash it will cause damage to the chip and or PCM sometimes both. Proper handling of computer modules have been around since their beginning. Proper handling of chip modules is key here, piece of mind is to remove it.

Once our new updated website is completed were going to try and get a better handle on this and redo a large portion of our installlation instructions. The only thing that concerns me is they are pretty in depth as they are and I hope our customers will take a few extra minutes to read through them.

The OP should not have thrown away his chip. If purchased directly from us we replace it 1 time at no charge for accidently frying it.

and yes, the OP has every right to try to get some resolve...i just don't think posting a thread with that title and opening the door for a lible filing would be how i would go about it...is this really a DP issue, or is this a dealer issue, or does the cause fall on the shoulders of the OP??? without knowing, with certainty, how is it fair to openly blame DP Tuner for the problem...???

But without knowing, the O/P did anyway.

That's what I'd object to.

I winced when I first saw the subject of this thread.

There's WAAAAAAY too many of these tuners in use for it to be DP's fault. If they were habitually blowing up PCM's, we'd be the first to know.

Somebody didn't know what they were doing, and, as was suggested above, "It's always somebody else's fault."

But not DP's.

If you saw the post above they were getting two or three calls a week on a blown pcm. I'm not blaming them just saying. Probably they did not read the fine print. I know if I was going to take my truck to the dealer it would be stock.

David, that was some good unwanted drama right there. You had already made two posts in this thread, Diane had posted, and the original poster stated he thanked them for there help, and said he would be contacting them this week. Then you pipe in with that. People do things when they are pissed, and or ignorant to a certain situation. Yes had the original poster might have read the instructions or remembered not to leave the key in when putting the chip in this could have been avoided. But that wasnt the case, and im sure he didnt mean dp any harm with the thread title, just needed people to see his thread so he could figure things out. And please remember that DPtuner is closed friday through sunday, so its not like he could have recieved any help from them this weekend anyways.

I agree with this, but you cannot predict what people will do.

Austin,

opinions are like azzholes...everybody's got one...and the drama was kept alive by yourself this time...

DPTuner, in the link Pop posted, states their warranty and installation instructions, it also states that they are not responsible for damages caused by improper installation...Jody nor Diane are obligated to do anything for the OP or any of us for that matter under these circumstances, and they do not, and did not deserve to have the OP slander the name of their company here, where they are sponsors, and where their company began...iggnorance of the law is not an excuse...remember that...

This needs to go away. The situation is being handled in the best way possible. Everyone makes mistakes. The OP needed his truck running quickly, and I know that feeling. I had to pay double for parts because it failed on a Sunday and I had to have it running early Tuesday morning, and couldn't wait for shipping. No choice but the dealer...

BTW for future reference, 02 & 03 PCMs are pretty much interchangeable, assuming the same transmission. They are essentially the same trucks...

Seems like only one person here was "offended", and it wasn't any of the involved parties. Oh well. I'm done here. Adios.

Joe, i agree, this thread should just fall by the wayside, it doesn't seem it was very constructive...

and BTW, i was never "offended"......just playing devils advocate...
