Going to look at a 88 4x4 Ranger that has had a built 302 and C4 tranny transplanted in it with the stock transfer case, push button style. How much power will that TC take? Don't know weather to part it out or finish the build. Too cheap too turn it down. Or just what TC would that be?
Had to pass, sat so long it scared me. 302 .030 over, Lunati cam, roller rockers etc, never fired up. C4 rebuilt with manual valve body,2600 stall converter. Advance Adapters to the 1354 TC. 4:10 LS gearing. Only problem was it's been sitting for 10 years and afraid to take a chance, even for $800. Seen the receipts and the adapter alone was over $600, $750 for the tranny rebuild.
I just bought a 77 F250 that sat for 27 years in the back of a shop. Fired it up and it runs like a champ. Every part checked out great, just needed a fluid change
27 years is a lot longer. But it sat inside the whole time. Before I paid i turned it on, drove it, then we went though the whole engine and drivetrain.
I could check and see if it was frozen up. But this was a project never finished. Pulled valve covers and everything still is like brand new. It's in the truck, but no starter, carb anything. Rubber in motor mounts has even cracked. Truck itself is actually in pretty good shape considering what I usually start with. It's one of those deals where you make out big time or bust. Even finished, a 88 Ranger doesn't bring much.
With all that equipment you listed, even if it did not start........It would have been going away on the trailer behind my F-250.......A 302 4x4 Ranger is the most fun you can have with your clothes still on!
