Exhaust

I've been wanting a f-350 diesel for a long time, but I just started my own company and am going to have to wait on the diesel. I DO have a '96 300 that i want to make sound like a diesel. Hey Captwdhall,
Check out the sticky at the top of the main 300 six forum. It's a thread devoted specifically to exhaust sounds. Maybe go through them, give them a listen, and then look and see what mods were done to get it to sound like that.

Wyowanderer, not to be rude, but what was the point of your thread? It was neither helpful nor informative.

The 300 is easy to make sound like a diesel. It's very strange in that sense. Start by cutting off the muffler; sounds just like a tractor.

Gas engine = gas engine sound. Diesel engine = diesel engine sound. Not much of any way to get around it.

People thought I had a diesel. The truck sounded like a Cummins / V8 diesel depending on my exhaust setup.

So I have to respectfully disagree with my friend Howard. The 300, while it's a gasoline engine, is easy to make sound like a diesel. It won't sound like a diesel 100% of the time but you WILL fool people. I got many interesting looks going through town before I changed my exhaust set up.

Mr. Howard I have a ton of respect for you. I take everything you say very seriously and I would tell anyone to pay mind what you have to say!

Just for the record though, I think the best style for the 300 is something more on the quiet side. After installing a Magnaflow on the 3.0, I wish I had done the same with my 4.9.

yea i have my cat off my exhaust and have a flowmaster but before the muffler i have a exhaust cutout and the few times i have it open it gets to sound like a tractor
