What ever happened to the telescoping or "stick" mirrors that were attached to the doors on the 53-56 trucks? I've heard them called trailor mirrors also. I've looked all over for one for my stock 56 but nothing. I guess everyone pitched them and got the fancy short chrome sets. If anyone comes across one or a source of one could you please let me know.
Thanks
They show up on ebay about once a year. I have 2 NOS for my 56 some day
when it gets restored. The last two I saw on ebay, I bid $200 each and still got
outbid at the last second. You don't see them often, but they are hot items
when you do. Good luck.

All 1953/66 F Series trucks have slots in their doors for mirrors. Whatever fits a 1953 will fit thru 1966 and vice versa.
There were myriad types of these mirrors offered 1953/66, some telescope, some do not, some have larger heads than others. Some 1957/66's have a 3rd "Steady-Rest" arm.
1953/56's AFAIK were painted black, while 1957/66's were painted white.
The following three mirrors are listed in the 1948/56 Ford Truck Parts Catalog-Final Edition 1964.

If interested in the 1957/66 types, I may be able to find some NOS. Last year I found two white telescoping mirrors w/5" x 8" mirror heads for an FTE member with a 1963 F100.
A Ford Dealer in KS had two, he bought both of them. The dealer charged him ... $17.50 EACH! Don't expect to pay this same 'low buck' price from other sources...this member got a roaring bargain.
