Hey all,
I did my AIH and foil delete today which went well other than getting the foil and fuzz off! Man that stuff was meant to stay on there.... Any way it's off and on the kitchen table all polished up. I also have the 6637 ready to go on and I have my intake hoses off and all cleaned up along with my dog house, I think that is what you all call it? I'm waiting on my CCV kit which isn't here yet, I'm just getting everything ready so when it makes it I'll be ready to put it all back together. I have two questions--- First is on the short plastic hose that runs from my turbo inlet to my bracket, the hole that's in it where the vent hose was which I'm going to now be venting under my truck now vs. into my intake. I assume there is a plug that for that with the kit? Also, when you look in the bracket end of the hose there is a piece sticking up where it vented in, looks to me like that should be cut off too increase air flow? Ok, maybe three questions, my truck is an '02 which I have to cut/notch my battery box. Does anyone have pics or know just how much I need to cut? I'd like to get that done before my ccv kit gets here as well. I appreciate you all and your much needed help!!!!!!
Corey
Hey, sorry I can't help you with questions 2 & 3... and can only help you with half of 1 lol. I didn't buy a ccv "kit", i just bought the parts at advance auto. But if there is no cap for the intake tube with the kit (which I would assume there would be), I just used a rubber vacuum cap avail at the parts store. Sorry I couldn't help ya more!
Did you order your CCV kit from Clay at RiffRaff? If so, then the kit will come with a 4" piece of pipe to replace the CCV bracket that has all the holes you are concerned with. So the air will come in the 6637, go through the stock intake hose, which is then clamped to the 4" piece of tubing from the ccv kit, which is clamped on the other side to the stock turbo inlet hose. I hope that makes sense.
Yes it makes sense to me and yes, it all came/is on the way from Clay. Did you guys cut that piece sticking up inside the intake tube off? I just done the AIH delete to remove an airflow obstruction and this thing looks to me like it is just another obstruction? As always I sure appreciate your help!!!!!
Umm, If I am picturing what you are talking about, that piece is also part of the CCV bracket that will be removed and replaced with the 4" piece of tubing.
Disclaimer : I have not done the CCV mod, but I have removed that bracket a few times to get to other stuff - and I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
No plug or cap, there should be a short piece of 4" pipe to take the place of that piece. You will remove that black CCv bracket and put the piece of pipe in its place. And for the air box (dog house) we usually just remove it. Take the air temp sensor and zip tye it to the break line comming of the master cylender
I'll try and explain again so I'm sure we're all on the same page. If you take the breather lid off it is connected to a hose that goes to a bracket. If you pull that hose off it leaves you with the bracket and another hose going from the bracket to the turbo inlet. At this point you can look into that hose, where the 90 degree hose comes from the dog house into the turbo inlet hose. There is a piece sticking up about 1 1/2", this is what I'm thinking should be cut off? It no longer serves any purpose and it's only obstructing airflow from the 6637...........

Do you see the black pipe in this picture? it takes the place of that piece with the sticky uppy piece you want to cut out. This is the kit you ordered from clay.
The black CCV coupler will go away with the kit. It is replaced by a very short piece of 4" pipe. I also have an '02 and all I did was remove the stock air box. No cutting necessary. It's a tight fit, and the filter does rub on my hood insulation, but it fits fine. Here's a pic of what my coupler looks like (I think Clay's kit uses a black coupler, mine is a piece of 4" SS exhaust):

That hose is supposed to stay connected to the dog house, and you turn the dog house 180 deg and turn the hose down. I think you should wait till you get the kit and the instructions. You might be chopping off your foot.
Just my .02
I understand now!!!!!!! I sure appreciate it........ Yes, the picture is the kit I'm getting from Clay and I see the tube to replace the other one. It all makes sense now. Thanks to you all............
