My 98 expy has the early 4x4 with the 2wd option and has the vacuum solinoids on the firewall behind the batt. I waswondering if anyone knows and can tell me if they are still available through ford and if not where i might be able to get a new pair?
The transfer case uses an electric motor to shift. The front axle engages via a vacuum actuator mounted on the front differential.
The first thing you should do is pull the hose off the actuator to see if you get vacuum there. Of course the engine has to be running and the switch has to be in 4WD. If you have vacuum at the actuator then the actuator has a ruptured diaphragm inside, or the linkage is broken. If there's no vacuum, then follow the hose back to the next device, and keep testing until you do get vacuum.
ok will do but in the mean time are any of these parts still available through ford? if not where can i get them no parts stores around here carry them.
i also have another ?. these trucks have a braid flex line comeing off of the brake master cylinder that goes into the abs module. does anyone know it those flex lines are a must or can you replace them with hard metal lines instead.
