heres the chain of events, i finished the tranny swap, trucks started up and shut off no problem, filled with trans fluid, started, tied up leaks, good to go, no more leaks.
i was leaning on battery i beleive, truck shut off mid running. go to start back up no power at all, turns out terminal was loose.
tighten terminal, starts to crank, and crank and crank and crank, not starting
fuel pumps turn on, i can smell gas as its cranking, changed the cap n rotor caue they were a lil corroded, still nothing, help
You should check for codes before going any farther, check out www.fordfuelinjection.com for details. You only need a paperclip to get the check engine light to blink the codes out to you (not joking).
i put a volt meter right on the coil, and turned key on, had 12 volts, i cranked engine with my volt meter in one of the spark plug boots, no reading, stuck my finger in there, and didnt get my finger zapped off. i figure its some kind of spark problem but dont know where or why, and solenoid like the starter solenoid right by the battery? on pass fender
you should have gotten a good spark at the plug...
yes the solenoid at the passenger side
did you look at the fusible links ?
they look like 1/2 long 3x diameter of the wire they are on
check for burn marks and gently pull on them to see if they are intact
maybe you killed the coil.... you can have 12v at the coil but if its dead no spark... or its got a bad connection i had one where it was corroded in the coil connector had to temporarily solder it together....
and theres a ground to body off the neg bat terminal wire
this kind of #%@! stuff is why i ripped out my evil efi!
All you have to do to check for codes, is short one pin in the diagnostic connector to ground, and count the 2 digit check engine light flashes. If you get a code 11, your good and you rule that out.
11 is the "pass code" for the system. If you get this, you know that there is no problem with the electronics and you can proceed with conventional troubleshooting methods. If you find other codes, post them here and I'll tell you whether or not they could cause your problem, and if so, what to do next. If you have any questions about retrieving the codes just ask me, i'm glad to help. If there is a simple electronics issue that doesn't get corrected, you may needlessly spend a bunch of time and money.
somewhat good news, lol, if a bad part can be, but we stuck a spark plug tester on coil to distributor, and no spark, and im getting power to the coil, so it looks like a simple coil fix, ill replace tomorrow n see how goes
