4r100 problem
I am setting in a campground in Idaho with a transmission problem. I am trying to figure out if I should drive to a transmission shop or get towed. I stopped for lunch and when I started out again the torque converter won't lock up. It shifts fine in 1st,2nd and 3rd but seems to be a big gap to get in 4th but it will when I let up on the gas. When going down hill it just free wheels like its not locked up. Seems to be no slipping of the transmission and the fluid looks fine. any ideas appreciated.

Thanks for the replys guys. I made it to Boise and have the truck in a shop for a tranny rebuild. They think a snap ring came off. Guess its common on these. I have 170k on the tranny so guess its past time for a rebuild.
